Finke Gorge National Park

A remote park 140km southwest of Alice Springs protecting the ancient Finke River gorge and Palm Valley. The Finke River is estimated to be 350–400 million years old — one of the world's oldest river systems. Accessible only by 4WD via river crossings. Contains Aboriginal sacred sites and rare desert plants. The Finke River is one of the world's oldest river systems and Palm Valley contains the rarest palms in Australia. A place of extraordinary ancient significance.
